Welcome to the 5th Annual Laurea International Week in Kerava, Finland, Nov 3rd-7th, 2014!

Dear Partners, Colleagues and Friends,

We are pleased to invite you to our 5th International Week to be held 3rd - 7th November, 2014. Laurea Kerava is a multidisciplinary and international campus of Laurea University of Applied Sciences, within a 20-minute train connection from Helsinki City Centre. Our learning method is based on Learning by Developing in our campus Bachelor Programmes in Business Management, Business Information Technology and Tourism.

Our aim is to strengthen cooperation between universities, companies, and other organizations to enhance students’ skills, thus creating shared visions. The International Week brings together students and staff from our partner institutions from all over the world. We are most delighted to welcome lecturers, administrative staff and students from your institution.

This year’s leading theme for our international week is “Networking locally and globally”. For the week’s programme we welcome your lectures or workshops to be held in the normal classes of about 20 students. The duration of each of your sessions can be between 60 and 130 minutes. We have about 20 different courses going on during that week, so a wide variety of topics will fit into the weeks programme in the areas of

- marketing: e.g. relationships marketing, tourism marketing and/or marketing communications
- cross-cultural communication
- international accounting
- international aspects of HRM
- management of organizations, change management
- logistics: supply chain management
- website design, especially visual design, video design
- language studies in German, Spanish, Swedish

We are looking forward to receiving your suggestions on the topics of your lectures or workshops. Other than your own lecturing you are welcome to follow sessions given by other lecturers and also that way interact with the students and lecturers either from Finland or other countries. We will also arrange staff meetings on different topics according to the wishes of the participants.

The preliminary programme (adjustments are still possible) of the week is outlined in the following:

· Monday, Nov 3rd, afternoon: exchange experiences of students and staff, virtual participation of our students abroad via Adobe Connect, Get-together Cocktail Party in the late afternoon

· Tuesday, Nov 4th, morning: official opening of the International Week and special lectures in the Aimo auditorium at the campus

· Tuesday, Nov 4th afternoon – Thursday 6th afternoon: foreign lecturers’ sessions in classes, staff meetings

· Wednesday evening: Networking dinner, Finnish cuisine

· Thursday evening: possibility to participate different events of your own choice and initiative in the Helsinki area: ballet, jazz clubs, exhibitions, concerts, etc. Visitors are encouraged to plan their own schedules as this part of the programme is not arranged nor hosted by our university.

· Friday, Nov, 7th: Cultural programme in Helsinki for foreign visitors

Participation fee 50 € includes lunches and coffees (Monday – Thursday), cocktail party, Finnish cuisine dinner on Wednesday and cultural programme on Friday in Helsinki. The participant or participant's institution will cover all the travelling costs as well as accommodation and meals not mentioned above.
